NAKID Social Sports is much more than just your everyday amateur sports league. Think of us as a social experience that consists of two themes: a variety of well-organized events combined with a fun season of sports activities with your teammates.
Once per week, you'll meet up with your team at your assigned field, court or bar and play against an opposing team. After your game, you'll visit the sponsor bar (or stay there, if you're already there!), where you'll eat, drink and socialize with your teammates. At some of our bars, you'll challenge your opponents to flip cup. NAKID offers some of the best ways to make new friends in DC and you're invited to join!
To keep informed and to RSVP for our events, please join our Meetup group. To stay in touch about upcoming leagues, like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter.

What is NAKID? How does it work?
NAKID stands for Neighborhood Adults Kickin' It Downtown and we are a coed social sports league!
Every week, you'll head on out to your designated location to play your sport. After your games, you'll go to your designated sponsor bar, where you'll eat, drink and socialize with your teammates and opposing teams. In most cases, once you're at the sponsor bar for a bit, you'll challenge (or be challenged by) other teams to the true sport of NAKID: Flip Cup.
What is a social sports league?
A social sports league is much more than just your everyday amateur sports league. Think of it more as an experience that consists of two equal themes: the first being a variety of well-organized social events and the second is being active and playing your registered sport. When you register, you're signing up to participate in the social events and your chosen sport during a designated period of time, usually called a season, which varies in length between 6-12 weeks long (depending on the sport and season).
What is a game day like?
Once per week, you'll meet up with your team at your assigned field or court and against an opposing team. After your games, you'll visit the designated sponsor bar, where you'll eat, drink and socialize with your teammates. Throughout the season, we have a variety of social events that you are invited to. To keep the most informed on all of our social events, including RSVPing for our free parties, free movie screenings and other social events each season, please join our Meetup group.
What if I have to miss a game?
That's totally fine. We all have other commitments in our lives. If you can, just give your captain a heads up (via email).
Do you all play nude?
Nope! We've just got a fun name.
What does my membership get me?
Your membership gets you tons of new friends, a season of a sport (that you choose), a t-shirt, and some great events to socialize with others and make new best friends.
What are the requirements to join?
All participants must be 21 or older, have health insurance and agree to our terms and conditions to join NAKID.
Can I join alone?
Absolutely! Most of our members join alone. Just join as a Free Agent and we'll place you onto a fun and friendly team when we get closer to the start of the season. If you later have a friend join as a Free Agent as well, toss us an email and we'll get the two of you onto the same team.
What's the age range of members?
Most of our members are between 21-35 years old. The average age is 24.
How do rainouts work?
We'll send you an email if your games have to be cancelled. In the event of game cancellations, head on over to the sponsor bar! Due to permitting requirements, we aren't always able to make up rainout out games (but we try!).
Captains Corner: Starting a Team
Are you looking to be a leader?
How do I start a team?
During registration, you will be given the option to register as a Team Captain. Select that option and follow the prompts to create your team.
What are my responsibilities?
Captains are the main organizer for teams, and your players look to you to help them have a great time. Generally, you'll need to distribute the team t-shirts to players, communicate with your players regularly, rally your team to go to the sponsor bar, read and understand the rules for your sport, and come out to games each week.
Why are Captain's refunds no longer offered?
As we roll out programming and operations changes throughout 2017, we will no longer be calling on our Captain's to take on additional duties and responsibilities for their leagues outside of managing their team's attendance and game rosters. We will be engaging all players equally in league updates and need-to-knows. NAKID Social Sports seeks to give all players a high level of engagement with the operations and activities of their leagues, no longer just Captains.
In addition, NAKID Social Sports seeks to provide responsive and friendly customer-service to all of our players. We are not able to automate refunds in our current registration platform and do not have the staff capacity to manually handle the number of refunds generated by the Captain's Refund program as it has existed in the past. We do not want to create a negative customer service experience by not being able to meet our administrative obligations as we focus in 2017 on the player experience at league night.
How many players should I have?
It's always nice to start out with a few friends. Generally, 5 or more is good, but not required.
What if I don't have enough players?
Teams that are below the minimum number of players may be merged into another team, about 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the season.
How do I get my team shirts?
Team t-shirts will be available at your first or second game. Captains will need to arrive a little early and pick them up.
How can I register an entire team?
For corporate teams or private groups, please email us at email@example.com to register an entire team.
How do rainouts work?
We'll send an email to all affected players if games have to be cancelled due to weather. In that event, all teams are suggested to go to the sponsor bar. Due to permitting requirements, we do not always make up/reschedule rained out games (but we try).
Why does my team have to referee?
From time to time, and depending on the sport, we may ask teams to provide some referees for some games. If you or some of your teammates are interested in being a regular referee, please have them email firstname.lastname@example.org.
